Katrina Van Humbeck

Katrina has a Bachelor of Education in Theatre and Music from the University of Manitoba and a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Theatre and Music performance from the University of Winnipeg. She has spent over two decades of teaching in public and private schools as a specialist in the Arts (music, choir, and drama) for students of all ages.
Some of her notable musical and theatrical achievements have included performing with Opera Manitoba, The Little Opera Company, The Philharmonic Choir, The University of Manitoba, and University of Winnipeg Choirs, as well as theatrical productions through the University of Manitoba Black Hole Theatre, and the University of Winnipeg Theatre Program.
In addition to being an educator, Katrina is a professional musician (vocalist, composer, and arranger) for her own original compositions, created in a jazz fusion style. She has released three full length studio recorded albums earning a nomination in the 2020 Western Canadian Awards. Her third album, Stronger Still, was released in April 2022 and features some of Canada’s finest jazz musicians, including Richard Gillis on trumpet, Larry Roy on guitar, Karl Kohut on double bass, and Rodrigo Muñoz on congas. This album, as well as her two others, Doing A New Thing (2018) and Blue & Beyond (2017) exemplify her signature blend of genres and the influences of many jazz greats.
