Kaiti Reider completed her Bachelor of Music courses at the University of Brandon. She has extensive experience teaching in the Frontier School Division’s Fiddle Program. Kaiti is a versatile string instructor and is comfortable teaching fiddle, violin, folk cello, and clawhammer banjo. In lessons, Kaiti draws positive pedagogy elements from both classical and traditional music to create a tailored and individual experience for each student.
Kaiti describes her background influences as having a heavy classical influence, which she then applies to folk music. She has an extensive background in traditional fiddle and banjo music and Métis musical influences. Drawing on personal experiences, Kaiti also writes her own music, and loves to tell the stories of her songs while performing for audiences.
Outside her teaching endeavors, Kaiti is discovering her lost Indigenous heritage through songwriting and carving. Her compositions explore balancing Eurocentric and Indigenous music traditions.
